My name is Matt Murphy. I am the owner of Murphy Home Inspections. My interest in homes goes back to childhood. My dad worked in the construction trades and I was taught about construction and homes from an early age. During high school and college I worked in many different aspects of home building and remodeling. I worked for a licensed carpenter who specialized in additions and remodeling. We hung cabinets, framed rooms, shored up foundations, roofed homes, and built many decks. I was trained as an inspector by the Bellman Group. In 2007, I became a licensed home inspector in Illinois and started my own company. I have been inspecting homes in central Illinois for over 12 years. I have been a member of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors for over 10 years.
In 2012 I was hired with the Springfield Fire Department. I am a full time firefighter for the SFD. I am a member of our Technical Rescue Team, Dive team and an EMT-B. As a firefighter I routinely see how people can be injured by items in their home as well as what mechanical and structural defects can cause fires, carbon monoxide issues, and create other safety risks.
I reside in Chatham IL with my wife and two daughters.
